Coeur Group will launch its Duck Derby on July 17 at Silverwood Theme Park's Lazy River to raise funds for a locker program that gives free clothing and supplies to students in need (duck prices start at $10).
Funds raised will support the 31 school lockers across local districts (winners receive cash prizes and Silverwood day passes).
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office will host a free Community Partnership BBQ on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Black Sheep Sporting Goods parking lot at Silver Lake Mall—showcasing K-9 demos and a drone team—while recruitment staff and first responders display equipment.
🚨 Crime
Richard Embree, a motorcyclist, died after being hit by Ryan Tietsort— the suspect in a carjacking spree at State Line Village where a good Samaritan was also fatally shot before Tietsort was killed by police.
🏛️ Government
Post Falls announced Wednesday that it would launch a new CPACE program—funded by a voluntary property tax assessment—to help commercial property owners finance long-term energy upgrades for efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation and seismic resilience.
The City Council will approve the program July 1.
Residents of Post Falls had an opportunity to review the city’s long-term 20-year growth plan during a workshop on Tuesday, June 17 that covered land use, infrastructure policy, and community investment.
City officials said they will extend community feedback efforts at the Post Falls Festival from July 11 to 13—residents can share input that will shape future development.

Local officials announced that new water filters will soon be available for residents impacted by PFAs in Post Falls - the effort aims to improve water quality and safety.
