Hayden resident Steven Hephner won the North Idaho College Foundation’s 32nd annual Really BIG Raffle on Wednesday night when his ticket (No. 3484) was drawn; he will receive a newly constructed house appraised at $525,000 at 1680 W.

Saturday's Post Falls parade will begin at 10 a.m. with a solemn tribute that features riderless horses and legacy fire equipment honoring fallen firefighters—John Morrison, Frank Harwood—and injured firefighter Dave Tysdal after an ambush on Canfield Mountain.
The procession will move from North Frederick Street along Seltice Way to Idaho Road and is part of the Post Falls Festival running Friday to Sunday—featuring community entries and performances.
Today in Coeur d’Alene, more than 150 bagpipers and drummers gathered to honor fallen firefighters John Morrison and Frank Hartwood, who were shot while responding to a brush fire on Canfield Mountain — Morrison’s funeral procession begins at English Funeral Home today and Hartwood’s is set for Friday. Musicians traveled from across the country, showing strong local support during their practice on Jenny Stokes Field.
Mary Sawyer-Nieder painted memorial rocks with 'never forget,' hearts and names to honor fallen fire chiefs Frank Harwood and John Morrison, who were shot on June 29.
Encouraged by over 1,100 Facebook reactions, she placed the pieces in Fallen Heroes Plaza (Cherry Hill Park) and is now working on larger rocks to be installed at their home fire stations.
🚨 Crime
Two St. Maries men faced eight felony charges after illegally killing seven mature white-tailed deer bucks outside legal shooting hours in north Idaho in November 2024—five of the deer were taken within 24 hours and three were classified as trophy bucks amid an ongoing investigation.
A man was arrested for second-degree arson in Post Falls—local police are investigating the case.

Eight recent NIC Radiography Technology Program graduates passed the national board exam on their first try and six scored in the 99th percentile—each has secured a job at local hospitals like Kootenai Health and Bonner General Health.
