The Salvation Army Kroc Center received a $10,000 grant from Innovia Foundation to offer one-year reduced-price youth memberships at 50% off for families with incomes at or below 225% of the federal poverty line.
The grant will help local youth access enrichment programs+ it comes amid rising living costs.
Since 2021, the Pottsville Seven have worked to restore East Shoshone Park and nearly finished by adding new vault toilets near the park’s kitchen structures with a grant from the U.S. Forest Service—members plan to add playground equipment and discuss turning the park into a state park.
On Saturday, July 19, an 8-year-old was injured when a pontoon boat towing a tuber in Mica Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene caught the child in its propeller causing deep leg lacerations that required a tourniquet — while on Wednesday a teenager was struck by a vessel propeller towing campers near Ross Point Bible Camp and taken via ground ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries — according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
Three local high school students attended the Ronald Reagan Great American Leadership Program in Malibu, Calif., where they learned about leadership and teamwork at the presidential library and university dorms.
They plan to apply these lessons to improve their work in student government and classroom discussions when they return to school.
