If you work or shop in Spokane Valley, early returns had the Central Valley School District levy narrowly passing as of 8 p.m. Tuesday. It's a three-year levy that replaces one expiring next year, and it keeps the rate at $2.50 per $1,000 of assessed value. For a $418,000 home, that's $1,045 per year.

Central Valley wasn't alone. Spokane County voters faced more than a dozen school and public safety tax measures, many of them replacements for expiring levies. Spokane Public Radio's election results page also lists a Liberty Lake sales tax and six fire district measures. On a $400,000 home, the yearly school levy cost runs from about $396 in East Valley to about $1,400 in West Valley.
